Helen Louise Rix, age 71, a resident of Allenton since 1987, passed away at her home on Tuesday,February 4th, 2020, after a long fight with pancreatic cancer. Helen was born in the small farming community of Holmesville, Ontario on March 8th 1948. She was the daughter of James and Beatrice (Cooper) Corran, and predeceased by her brother Victor. The family moved to Clinton Ontario where Helen spent most of her life before moving to US. Helen graduated from Macomb County Community College Nursing school with a degree as Registered Nurse in 1986. In 1987 she married Michael Rix at their home in Allenton. During her nursing career Helen worked at Sacred Heart in Memphis Mi, St Joseph Hospital systems and with Macomb County Mental Health Services.until her retirement in 2012. Helen is survived by her husband Michael and two sons Gavin Johns and Victor (Taryn) Frisk with two grandchildren Benny and Noah. She was also loving "second mother" (she hated the word Stepmother) to Simon, David and Stephen. Travel to Mexico was always a priority where she sought a deeper understanding of the Mayan culture. She leaves a host of friends behind in Mexico, all who loved her as we did. Helen was a very kind, loving and compassionate woman giving good feelings to everyone no matter where she was. She was an avid gardener and nature lover, always had cats in her life and loved to feed the "Birdies". Memorial services will take place on Sunday, March 15, 2020 from 1-4 PM with a 4 PM informal service at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home (11280 32 Mile Road, Romeo Michigan 48065) Helen’s urn will be placed in the family cemetery in Clinton Ontario in early May—2020. Donations to Pancreatic Research at University of Michigan would be appreciated. Address is 1000 Oakbrook Drive, Suit # 100, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48104-6815 and label it for Pancreatic Cancer Research. A second celebration of life will held on May 2, 2020 at the Bluewater Golf Club Clubhouse at 77416 Bluewater Highway, Bayfield, Ontario.
