Helen S. DeMeulenaere, age 87, a resident of Washington Township since 1950, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Michigan. Helen was born June 19, 1927 in Sterling Heights, Michigan, the daughter of Henry and Hanna (Werth) Mikolowski. She married Cyriel A. DeMeulenaere on October 2, 1948 at East Bethlehem Church in Detroit. Helen, along with her family, were long time members of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Washington Township. Helen is survived by her husband Cyriel, children: Robert (Julie) DeMeulenaere and Cindy (Steve) Brancoto both of Washington Township. Grandchildren include Jennifer (T.J.) and Anthony (Roberta). Great grandchildren include Andrew, Ben, & Isaac. Helen is also survived by her sisters Dorothy Brinker, and Rose (James) Marquette. She was preceded in death by granddaughter Hope and brothers Edward, Herb & Elmer Mikolowski. Helen was a lover of her pets which she called her grandpets. They included, Chase & Boots. Funeral services will take place on Monday, June 30, 2014 at 11 AM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Washington Township with Pastor Jeffrey Draeger officiating. Burial will follow in St John’s Cemetery in Shelby Township. Visitation will be on Saturday from 4-8 and Sunday from 2-8 at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo Michigan. Donations to Our Redeemer Building Fund would be appreciated.
