Helen Virginia Rick

Helen Virginia Rick, age 79, a resident of Gaylord and formerly a lifelong resident of the Romeo/Almont area, passed away at her home on Wednesday , November 25, 2009. Helen was born in Almont, MI., on August 1, 1930, the daughter of John and Paraschiva (Roman) Mihaiu. She married Bob Rick on May 20, 1949 at St John Lutheran Church in Romeo and together they spent 56 years together before he passed away on January 9, 2005. Along with her family, they were longtime farmers in the Almont area and were longtime members of St John Lutheran Church in Romeo. She was the matriarch to her family, especially her children: Linda (Jim) Wernig of Charlevoix, MI., Bob (Marcia) Rick of Romeo and John (Heidi) Rick of Lewiston, MI. and Williston, N.D. Grandchildren include Kyle (Ursula) Rick of Bolder, CO., and Blane Rick of Romeo. Surviving siblings include Mary Baade of Romeo and Bonnie Loehne of Cheboygan, MI. Helen was preceded in death by her siblings: Pearl, Ann, Josephine and brother Dan. Funeral services will take place on Monday, November 30, 2009 at 11 AM at St John Lutheran Church of Romeo with Rev. Mark Evans officiating. Burial will take place at the Romeo Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Sunday from 4-9 PM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo Michigan.
