Henrietta R. Esper, age 88, a 61 year resident of the Romeo area, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at the Orchard Grove Health Care Campus in Bruce Township Michigan. Henrietta was born June 18, 1931 in Mt Clemens, the daughter of James Phillip and Henrietta (Helmsteader) McMahon. Henrietta graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School in Mt. Clemens in 1949. She married John Esper on August 3, 1957 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Mt Clemens, Michigan and he preceded her in death on March 17, 2002. She loved her faith, enjoyed, along with her family belonging to St. Clement Catholic Church in Romeo, where she was part of its Womens Guild. Henrietta loved arts/crafts, traveling, being a people person, but mostly loved to spend time with her many children, being a grandmother and having countless friends. Henrietta is survived by her children: Leo (Linda) of Northville, MI., Rose (Ken) Shall of Shelby Township, Dan (Sharon) of Hudsonville, MI., Mark (Shannon) of Romeo, Lori (Joe) Martin of Williamston, MI., and Clara (Patrick) Hunter of Richmond, MI. Also survived by 20 grandchildren & 15 great grandchildren. Henrietta is preceded in death by her husband, son-in-law Andrew Russell in 2016, grandchildren Daniel Esper in 2018 and Esme’ Shuster in 2017. To those who wish to be with the Esper family, a public viewing with no more than 250 at a time will be held at St. Clement Catholic Church on Friday from 10 AM—Noon. At noon, the Funeral Mass will be held with Henrietta’s nephew Father Joesph Esper officating. Burial will follow at the Bruce-Armada Cemetery where she will be laid to rest by her husband John. Per the Catholic Church, all entering the church for viewing & the Mass must be wearing masks. Donations to the IHM Mother House, (610 W Elm Ave, Monroe, MI 48162) would be appreciated.
