Jack S. Adkins, age 79, a 42 year resident of Romeo and formerly from Detroit, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Crittenton Hospital in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Jack was born March 31, 1932 in Roanoke, Virginia, the son of James S. and Bessie (Stinson) Adkins. He married the former Maria Guimond on November 15, 1952 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Detroit. Jack retired from the General Motors Tech Center in Warren as a Supervisor of Machine Repair in the middle 1990’s. Jack previously worked at Budd Wheel in Detroit, also in machine repair. Along with his family, he was a longtime member of St. Clement Catholic Church in Romeo, former member of the Romeo Elks Club, and Jack also served his Country in the Korean War in the Air Force. His hobbies include reading, watching old movies, and being with his grandkids and great grandkids. Jack is survived by his wife Maria of Romeo, children: Cindi (Tim) Cremeans of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; Julie (Moe) Geldhof of Romeo; and Shari (Tom) Sovereign of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Also survived by 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his daughter Leisa, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home of Romeo. Fr. Jerry Kessell will officiate. Visitation will begin on Friday September 2, 2011 from 2:00-9:00 PM.
