Jake Harrison, age 85, a 16 year resident of Lapeer Township and formerly from Warren , MI., passed away on Tuesday, June 7 at the Lapeer Regional Hospital. Jake was born August 13, 1925 in LaFollette, Tennessee, the son of Henry and Lizzie (Smith) Harrison. He married the former Elizabeth C. Hammerschmidt in Warren, MI., in 1969. Jake retired as a truck driver in 1986, his last company was “Leaseway Truckingâ€. He also worked for other trucking companies over the years, hauling auto parts. Jake served his Country in both WW II and in the Korean War in the Army. During the Korean War, he spent three years as a prisoner of war. Upon retiring, Jake enjoyed fishing. Jake is survived by his wife Elizabeth, children: Gary Harrison of TN., Rick Harrison of Florida, Kimberly (Mike) Holt of Burton, MI., Karen (Richard) Blanchard of Centerline, MI., Brian (Anita) Somero of Sterling Heights, and Timothy (Millissa) Harrison of Lapeer. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Funeral services will take place on Friday at 11 AM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home of Romeo with Pastor Ken Burdett of the Washington First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in White Chapel Cemetery in Troy.
