James A. Bell, age 72, a 23 year resident of Romeo and formerly from Berkley, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at his home. Jim was born February 27, 1937 in Chicago, IL., the son of Warren and Marie (Peters) Bell. He married Margaret Schwartz on August 5, 1956 in Tinley Park, IL. Jim received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Automotive Engineering from the University of Illinois. He then worked for over 30 years as an automotive engineer, mostly at the General Motors Tech Center in Warren before retiring in 1999. His love of life, after his family, was fishing. He was an expert fisherman and belonged to the Michigan Steelheaders Association. He enjoyed tinkering and was known at their winter home in West Palm Beach, Florida as the “SUPER”. He could fix anything and he also was an expert in woodworking and was a Star Trek junkie. Jim is survived by his wife Margaret, children” Michael (Terrresa) Bell of Clawson, Theresa (Greg) Montgomery of Southfield, James Jr. (Kathy) Bell of Bloomfield Hills, Robin (Mark) Morrison of Boca Raton, Florida, Kristine (Frank) Leone of Troy, & Leeann (Brian) Rice of Oxford. Jim is also survived by 16 grandchildren and his brother Warren of Niles, MI. Funeral services will take place on Monday at 1 PM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home with burial to follow at the McCafferty Cemetery in Bruce Twp. Michigan. Visitation will take place on Sunday from 3-9. Donations to the Henry Ford Hospice would be appreciated.
