James H. Maceachern

James Hugh (Jim) MacEachern was born on October 29, 1956 in Detroit to Angus H. (Gillie) and Theresa MacEachern. Passed away on February 22, unexpectedly. Graduated from Holy Redeemer High school. He was employed by General Motors at the Fleetwood Plant and retired from the Poletown plant. Jim was an avid outdoors man; he loved to hunt and fish. He also loved playing cards, buying and selling cars and taking trips to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He always looked forward to his yearly trip to Barrett-Jackson auto auction in Scottsdale, AZ with his brother, John. Jim was larger than life, he loved meeting people and they always remembered “Big Jim”. His strength of character and integrity were second to none while he took pride in closing a deal with a handshake. Preceded in death by his father Angus (Gillie) MacEachern. Survived by his mother Theresa MacEachern, two sons Jordan and James, the love of his life Debbie Vettraino; sisters Peggy (Jim) Francisco MI, Josie MacEachern FL, Margo (Scott) Higley MN, Tricia MacEachern MN and his brother and best friend John MacEachern (Janet) MN; nieces, nephews, his extended family (they regarded Jim as their father) Rachel Martino (Matt) MI, Adrienne Nalu (Kevin) MI, Ashley Vettraino MI, plus their children who referred to Jim as “Papa”, family, many longtime friends and relatives in Canada. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice. Funeral services will take place at Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, 11280 32 Mile Rd, Romeo, MI on Wednesday, February 27th, 2013 with Father Jerry Kessel officiating. Visitation from 2pm to 7pm. Please share memories at www.henrymmalburg.com.
