James N. Shafer

James N. Shafer, age 67, an 8 year resident of Davison, MI., and formerly from the Lapeer, MI. area, passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at his home after a long illness. James was born January 15, 1943 in Detroit, the son of Raymond A. and Evelyn (Barna) Shafer. Jim married the former Elizabeth M. Rosebrough on October 28, 1993 in Port Huron. Jim worked as an educator in school districts in Port Huron and in both Lapeer & Genesee Counties. He also worked as a part time sheriff in Reed City, MI., his hobbies include fishing, hunting, & being with his grandkids. Jim is survived by his wife Betty of Davison, children: Debra Shafer of Florida, Mary Rutledge of Indiana, Cynthia Shafer of California, Patricia (Brian) Lloyd of IL., Rebecca Shafer of Florida, Dawn (Danny) Fox of Grand Blanc, & John (Rebekah) Griffith of Burton, MI. Also survived by siblings: Richard (Karen) Shafer of Romeo, Beverly Stone of Bloomfield Hills, MI., John Shafer of Rochester Hills, and Susan (Terry) Hill of Tsawassen, British Columbia. Also survived by 12 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and was preceded in death by one sister Ellen Allison of Romeo. Arrangements by the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo Michigan.
