James Quentin Reagan, age 82, a longtime resident of Romeo since 1977, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, after a lengthy illness.
Born on September 12, 1942, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to James and Josephine (Ruper) Reagan, Jim grew up in Detroit, and graduated from Pershing High School. A passionate, lifelong learner, he earned multiple degrees, including a Doctorate in Mathematics Curriculum and Instruction from Wayne State University.
Jim dedicated 36 years to teaching mathematics, primarily at Stevenson High School in Sterling Heights. He also taught college courses at several local institutions. His contributions to the Mathematics Community included publications, leadership roles, and workshops, earning him numerous awards.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Jim was actively involved in coaching youth sports, and helped to establish soccer as a Varsity sport at Romeo High School. He also enjoyed traveling, attending sports events, theater, and woodcarving.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Kathy; his children, James (Amy) and Brenda; his grandchildren, Spencer and Garrett; his brother, Joey (Paula); his brother-in-law, Kelvin Brigham; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial luncheon will be held at a later date.
