James R. Mehl, age 64, a 36 year resident of Almont, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at his home. James was born on March 28, 1956 in Mount Clemens, the son of John M. Mehl and Eleanor (Knust) Mehl. James graduated from Eisenhower High school in 1975, then in 1978 married Debra Chambers at the First Baptist Church of Romeo. James worked at knust dairy farm and IDF clean up. In his free time, James enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in the garage and worked on his hobby farm at J&J farms. James is survived by his children Jesse Mehl (Danielle Zavitz) of Almont, Chad (Tami) Mehl of Imlay City, Jamie Mehl of Almont, and Tiffany Mehl of Almont, his mother Eleanor Mehl of Almont, grandchildren Jesse James, Logan, and Annamarie, also survived by brothers John (Terrie) Mehl, Ricky (Bonnie) Mehl, and Dennis Mehl. James was preceded in death by his wife Debra, father John, and sister-in-law Pam. Funeral services will be held Saturday January 23, 2021 at 11AM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Friday January 22, 2021 from 2PM-8PM at the Henry M Malburg Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Davis Cemetery.
