James E. Tighe

James E. Tighe (Jim), age 88, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025. Jim was born in Detroit on September 15, 1936, the son of Charles and Margaret (Carroll) Tighe. On October 8, 1960 he married the Love of his life, Patricia Cockburn at St. Cecilia’s Church in Detroit, MI. 

Jim retired from Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan after 35 years. While raising his family he was a member of St. Anne parish in Warren where he was a member of the Dad’s Club, Athletic Club and played on the Men’s Softball team. 

After retirement, he and Pati moved to Roscommon, MI. He was a member of St. Michael Parish. He was a member and President of St. Vincent DePaul in Roscommon.

Jim moved back ‘down state’ in 2016.

He enjoyed watching Tiger Baseball and Red Wing hockey while enjoying a cold beer. His favorite pastime was camping, especially with the OFC (Old Farts Club), a group of lifelong friends.

Jim is survived by his children Sherri (Bob) Simmons of North Carolina, Donna (Tim) Berkley of Warren, Tim (Marie) of Macomb Township, Patsy (Kevin) Richardson of Bruce Twp., and Courtney Tighe of Oak Park. He has 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren with another on the way. Jim is loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Pati, his brother Tom and his parents.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 3-8 pm at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home in Romeo, MI.

Funeral Service will consist of a few short prayers, beginning at 7pm. Burial will be at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery, in Lyon Township, MI.
