Janet E. Demartelaere

Janet E. DeMartelaere, age 75, a resident of Romeo since 1987, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township. Janet was born on October 25, 1939 in Royal Oak, Michigan, the daughter of Robert and Eileen (VanMarter) Mentier. She married David L. DeMartelaere on January 6, 1962 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Royal Oak and Dave preceded her in death on November 24, 2014. Janet was well known for her cooking and baking. Janet and her husband Dave were long time members of St Clement Catholic Church where they helped out with the funeral luncheons for many years. She dedicated most of her time to her family and friends helping out with whatever needed to be done. Janet worked for the Romeo Observer for many years in the advertising department. Janet is survived by her children; Denise (Rob) Prough of Shelby Twp., Debi (Ken Appleman) Martone of Romeo, Donna (Paul Jett) DeMartelaere of Madison Heights, and Deanna (Greg) Heiden of Capac. Also survived by 14 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, and 4 great grandsons along with sister Donna Austin of Midland, MI. Janet was preceded in death by her sister Nancy Austin. Funeral services will take place on Monday December 15, 2014 at 11 AM at St Clement Catholic Church of Romeo. Visitation will be on Sunday December 14, 2014 from 1-7 at the Henry M.
