Jerry A. Barendreght

Jerry A. Barendreght, age 82, was long standing resident of Leonard for 43yrs. He passed away on April 25, 2021 at Troy Beaumont Hospital in Michigan. Jerry was born on January 7, 1939 son of Vern and Elsie (Sage) Barendreght. He is survived by his wife of 55yrs, Sharon (Klock), his three daughters and their husbands Laura (Jason), Mary (Kevin) and Andrea (John), his two grandchildren Gabriella and Evan, his cat Mushu, his grandpups Lola, Kiley, Izzy, Eva, and Rey, and his sister Vera (John). He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Donna (Herm), Caroline, Curtis (Maxine), Rodney (Pat) and Roger. Jerry graduatedfrom Grant High School and then went on to Michigan State University to receive his PHD in Mechanical Engineering. He was a Research Engineer at General Motors for over 40yrs, where he was highly recognized for his knowledge in lost foam casting throughout the world.In his free time, hewas an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer and a coach at school/church for girls softball, and took great pride in spending time with his wife and daughters. He was also a devote Christian and a long-time member of Romeo First Baptist, where he held many leadership positions and a leader of the Christian Service Brigade Ministries. Jerry was a caring and loving man that lived his life to the fullest and would do anything for those he loved. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and his legacies will carry on in the many lives that he touched. Visitation will be held on April 28, 2021 from 10-12 at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo, MI, and followed by a service at noon. Jerry will then be laid to rest at Christian Memorial 521 E. Hamlin rd. Rochester Hills, MI 48307 at 2pm.
