Joan Bilianis

Joan Bilianis, age 99 a long time resident of Macomb Twp went to her forever home on Feb 14, 2022. She was born in Fragaika, Greece to Aggiliki and Giannis Sboukis. Her father passed away when her mother was pregnant with her. Her mother later passed away when she was 12 years old. As the youngest of four siblings, last surviving, she was forced to quit school at an early age and grow the garden to feed her siblings. She married Nick Bilianis on Jan 20, 1958 and was invited by her oldest brother(her hero) to come to the states. Of which she did in 1967. She is survived by her son Angelo (Zina) of Colchester England, her daughter Jenny LaCasse (Phil) of Addison Twp, Her grandchildren Joannie Bilianis, Nicole Soderstrom(AJ), Kenny (Jenny) LaCasse, Alec LaCasse (Annalise Garcia), Eva Bilianis. Also great granddaughter Alexis Yanis. Her legacy includes gathering around the table for a homemade meal with family or friends. In the summer, if you stopped by, you would get a tour of her garden. Nick and Joan were usually outside sitting, admiring the garden. She would speak and bless it as they watched it grow. She loved nothing more than sharing her food with her kids, grandkids neighbors, and others. It felt like love to her. I think that was a well fed neighborhood. As well as her faith. Given an opportunity she would witness to you and share all of God's testimonies and there were many. She was well known for gardening, cooking, knitting and breaking out in a melody here or there. She loved to sing. While her husband was fighting cancer before he was healed, she made over 40 afghans, it was her therapy, many of which she gave away. She will be remembered for loving well! Her family will deeply miss her! We all know where she is but we also know where she is not! Funeral services will take place on Saturday, February 19 at 11 AM at Rochester Christian Church. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10 AM to 11 AM at Rochester Christian Church. Burial to follow at White Chapel Cemetery. Luncheon to follow burial, at Louis Chop House in Chesterfield, Michigan.
