Joan Raab’s nursing career was a source of great pride. Joan loved reading, researching and learning. She passed that love onto many of her family. The Nuns provided Joan Marie with a special violin to play through college, as they didn’t want her to give up the exceptional talent she was blessed with. Being outdoors walking, working in her beautiful yard, traveling, shopping, restaurant visits, boat rides, playing Bridge at the Senior Center or Poker at her daughters’, concerts, winning at Keno, Bingo and Vegas trips were a huge excitement! Joan was a terrific cheerleader for all the family’s sport, school, community games and projects! Joanie could outrun all of us for most of her life and bowled, figure skated and swam with the best of them! Joan Marie loved her home and the special artwork her grandchildren made that covered her walls, tables and refrigerator! She was a beautiful and faithful woman inside and out. Joan raised her children each morning with her lovely voice singing “Rise & Shine and give God the Glory, Glory, children of the Lord!” Ms. Raab worked hard and devoted herself to God and her family. Her children recall some of the finest memories as her 77th Birthday Jello Firecake erupting in flames and also, her special brand of holiday cooking wowwing our tastebuds!
Joan loved her grandchildren – Jennifer Gutowski, Jill Gutowski Roegner, Christine Sherman (William) Smith, Karen Sherman, and Michael Robert Sheaves. Great Grandma Raab also cherished her great-grandchildren – Billie (Skylar) Halcomb, Collin Howells, Miranda Smith, Hanna (Skylar Sexton) Halcomb, Morgan Smith and Savannah Roegner. Four great-great-grandchildren also brought joy to her life!
Joan’s siblings Archie McIntyre, Michael (Charlotte) McIntyre, Catherine McIntyre Levert, Rita McIntyre and Angus McIntyre, survive and loved her dearly. Her Godchildren, nieces and nephews, and Cape Breton, Nova Scotia relatives were a wonderful source of love, history and stories to share.
Predeceasing Ms. Raab were her parents Agnes & Angus McIntyre,Grandson - Jonathan Gutowski,
Great-Grandson - Kyle Halcomb,Siblings - John McIntyre, Norman (Joan) McIntyre, Margaret McIntyre, Brother-n-law Charles (Catherine) Levert, Sisters-in-law Connie (Archie) McIntyre and Susan (Angus) McIntyre. God bless them all.
