Joanna Antonine Pelczar

Joanna Antonine Pelczar, age 93, a 18 year resident of Porter, Indiana, and formerly from Newark, New Jersey, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2009 at the Settler's House in LaPorte, Indiana.  Joanna was born March 6, 1915 in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Floryan and Mary (Kruk) Cuber.  She married John Stanley Pelczar in 1945.  Joanna was a professional seamstress and upholsterer, doing commercial draperies.  Upon retirement, she enjoyed working in her vegetable garden, tending to her flowers, and baking.     Joanna is survived by her husband John of Porter, Indiana, two sons:  Edward (Marilyn) Pelczar of Ray Township and Joseph Pelczar of Westville, Indiana.  Grandchildren include Christopher (Lynne) Pelczar of Seattle, Washington and Jeffrey Pelczar of Los Angeles, California. Great grandchildren include Joshua & Madeline.  She was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.      Funeral services will take place on Thursday at 11 AM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home of Romeo with Dr. Gary Glanville of the Romeo United Methodist Church officiating.  Burial will follow in the Davis Cemetery in Ray Township.  Visitation will take place at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-9 PM.
