John R. Savage, Jr., age 65, a 30 year resident of Allenton and formerly from Sterling Heights, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at Troy Beaumont Hospital. John was born May 1, 1943 in Mt Clemens, MI., the son of John R. Sr. and Phyllis M. (Tewksbury) Savage. He married Sharon Sweeney on January 28, 1967 at St Clement Catholic Church in Romeo. John was an electrician for many years working with IBEW Local # 58 in Detroit before retiring in 1991. He later worked at a currier for the Capac Savings Bank. He served his country in the Army, belong to the American Legion in Capac, and his hobbies were woodworking, fishing, cooking, and working in his garden. John is survived by his wife Sharon of Allenton, children: Elizabeth (John) Glumb of Whitmore Lake, MI., and Richard (Korrie) Savage of Plainville, CT. Grandchildren include Alexandria, Gabrielle, and Erin Glumb and Connor & Emily Savage. His mother Phyllis Sheridan of Armada survives along with his siblings William (Janet) Savage of Imlay City and Janet (Pat) Stybert of Burton, MI. Funeral services will take place on Monday at 11 AM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home of Romeo with the Rev. Pat Stybert of the Asbury United Methodist Church of Flint officiating. Burial will follow in the West Berlin Cemetery. Donations to the Four County Foundation would be appreciated. Arrangements by the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo , Michigan. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-9 PM.
