John S. Guerra, age 64, a 13 year Bruce Township resident passed away unexpectedly on May 29, 2019 at Ascension St. John Hospital. John was born May 15, 1955 in Detroit, to Coridino and Marianne (Caramagno) Guerra. John was a graduate and Salutatorian of East Detroit High School. He retired as a Post master. John was known for being an amazing drummer. He shared his talents playing back up drummer for Gallery; an American soft rock band formed by Jim Gold in the 1970’s in Detroit. He also played for 10 years on the worship team at Stony Creek Community Church. He enjoyed boating, fishing, speed skating and wood splitting. John is survived by his wife Kimberly (Winters) Guerra, sons Christopher and Paul; stepchildren Kyle, Seth and Haley Cicchini; brothers Joseph (Mary) of Ray Twp and Michael (Tanya) of Plymouth; step grandchildren Liam and Ryder Frances; Father in law Cal Winters; and sibling in-laws Marlene (Richard) Dickson of Lenox, Darlene (Jerry) Gallagher of Utica, Mike (Ersella) of Shelby Township, Sherry (Charlie) Gomes of Bruce Twp., Doug (Terri) of Romeo, Cindy Winters of Washington Twp., Deenie (Dave) Degroff of Richmond, Sheila (Jim) Sangster of Shelby Twp., Jewell (Ed) Prieskorn of Washington Twp., Greg (Wendy) of Washington, and Kelly (Paul) VanHaverbeck of Almont. John was preceded in death by his father Coridino Guerra, mother in law Katie Winters and brother in law Dusty Winters. Funeral services will take place on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at 6 PM with Pastor Mick Veach officiating at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Sunday June 2, 2019 from 2-8 PM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home.
