Joseph E. Smith

Joseph E. Smith, 78, a life long resident of Romeo passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Port Huron General Hospital. Joe was born November 3, 1934 in Romeo, the son of Joseph and Hazel (Rolph) Smith. He married Vesta Weaver on June 15, 1957 in New York. Joe retired from TRW in skilled trades in 1993 after 34 years of employment at their plant on 28 mile road & Van Dyke. Upon retiring, he worked in construction with his wife in the Romeo area. His hobbies include oil painting and working with his model trains. Joe served his country proud in Germany while he was with the Army. Joe is survived by his wife Vesta of Romeo, children: Tony (Wendy) Smith of Imlay City, Steve (Jackie) Smith of Huntsville, Alabama, Darlene Smith of Lapeer and Marvin (Amy) Smith of Capac. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Joe was preceded in death by his siblings Lawrence Smith and Lila Hurdlow. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, August 3 at 6 PM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home of Romeo with Rev. Norman Farver of the Calvary Baptist Church in Armada officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from noon till 6 PM.
