Joyce L. Joslin, 82, of Romeo passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on January 6, 2019. Joyce was born on December 7, 1936 in Chicago to John and Lauretta (Marek) Sophie. She grew up in Norway, Michigan where her love of theatre began at her parents movie theatre. As she watched the laughter and smiles from customers she decided that her life's mission was theatre. Joyce began with community theatre having leading roles in plays like South Pacific and Mame. After graduating Summa Cum Laude from Macomb College, she began her career running the box office at Macomb Center for the Performing Arts. Joyce married the late John Joslin on Valentine’s day of 1992. After retirement, Joyce kept busy with many hobbies and interests. She volunteered at the Salvation Army for 11 years, made weekly trips to Partridge Creek with her best friend Loretta, worked in her yard, watched the birds and became Ryan Newman's biggest NASCAR fan. Joyce was the type of person that if you said you liked something she was wearing, she would send it to you. She inspired a lot of young kids when she worked at the box office, gave her gloves to a bell ringer at Christmas, brought doughnuts to the post office and dealership when she had her car worked on. Joyce was an amazing person and touched every person she came in contact with. Joyce is survived by her children Laurie Sanchez Whitmore (Milt), John Sanchez (Laurie), and Jackie White as well as 17 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and sister Renee Dempster (Tom). Joyce was preceded in death by her husband John Joslin on March 2, 2016, son Michael Sanchez and daughter Therese Sanchez Azar. A celebration of life service will be held at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 6 PM with Father Jim Hast officiating, with visitation starting at 4 PM.
