Julie A. (Fisher) Harwood, age 69, a Romeo resident since 1971, passed away on February 3, 2016 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township, Michigan. She was born on November 4, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Jack B. and Verna J. (Reske) Fisher. Julie taught for 44 years and opened the door at Hamilton Parsons Elementary in 1975 and taught there until retiring in 2013. She loved animals, reading, knitting, puzzles, and making baskets. She was a strong believer in cultural diversity and social conscience and was a warrior for social justice. Julie is survived by her loving husband Forrest (Skip) of Romeo, children; Forrest Jr. (Kristen) of St. Clair Shores, Michigan, Joshua (Gwen) of Imlay City, Michigan, Patrick (Sara) of Austin, Texas, and Jonathon (Tasha) of San Diego, California. Also survived by her Brother Steven Fisher, 10 grandchildren, and her beloved dog Allie. Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 6, 2016 at 11 AM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home in Romeo, Michigan. Visitation will be on Friday February 5, 2016 from 3 PM until 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michigan Humane Society or United States Holocaust Museum in Washington DC.
