Karen M. Vermander, age 55, a 20 year resident of Dryden, MI., and formerly from Leonard, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2012 at Lapeer Regional Hospital. Karen was born December 27, 1956 in Mt Clemens, the daughter of Richard and Joann (Schmidt) Vermander. After graduating from Oxford High School, Karen attended college at Pontiac Business Institute and then worked as a medical transcriptionist. For the last 27 years she has worked as a secretary in the Romeo School System in different buildings over the years. She was most proud of being a Master Gardener, and she had a garden at her house and at her mother house. Karen is survived by her mother Joann of Leonard, MI., siblings: Kenneth (Kathy) Vermander of Metamora, Gary (Mary Ann) Vermander of Dryden, Gail Vermander of Leonard, & Peggy Vermander of Lexington. Also survived by many nieces & nephews and a great niece and great nephew. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday at 10 AM at St Cornelius Catholic Church in Dryden with Fr. Wayne Ureel officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 2-9 at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo Michigan and from 9:30 till 10 AM Tuesday at the Church. Donations to the family will be used at a later date for a special tribute for Karen.
