Karol L. Regius, age 73, a resident of Bruce Township, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Karmanos Hospital in Detroit after a courageous three year battle with cancer. She was born on June 16, 1941 in St Clair, Michigan, the daughter of Leland and Mildred (Bark) Roeder.  Karol graduated from Algonac High School and then received her Bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University. She was employed by the Isketa Council of Girl Scouts and eventually became director and advisor to the Romeo and Mount Clemens Councils. On July 7, 1967 she married the love of her life Sigmar Regius in Richmond, Michigan. Together they built their home in Bruce Township where they raised their children and have lived for over 45 years.  Over the course of her life she was very active in multiple groups and organizations. However, her passion was truly focused on governmental and township issues. Her desire to maintain the rural integrity for the township served as her goal during her tenure as Clerk of Bruce Township. While in this capacity she also served on the Bruce planning commission as well as a member of the Macomb County Clerks Association.  After 28 years of service she retired to enjoy a variety of social interactions. Karol had many interests including her love to travel, watching her children excel in a variety of sporting activities, and following her local Detroit sporting teams. However, her most rewarding experiences were sharing time with her grandchildren  Karol is survived by her loving husband Sigmar, children; Melissa (Jed) Cavadas of Columbia Station, Ohio and Mark (Mindy) Regius of Romeo. Also survived by her grandchildren; Mark Jr., and Maxwell Regius and Troy Cavadas. Karol and her husband Sigmar were active members of St. John Lutheran Church where funeral services will take place, Tuesday April 14 at 11 AM (246 Benjamin St, Romeo, MI 48065). Visitation will be Sunday from 6 to 8 PM and Monday from 2 to 8 PM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Bruce-Arm da Cemetery.
