Kenneth Coles

Kenneth Coles, age 82, a resident of Shelby Township since 1994 and previously from England/Scotland, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Ascension Providence Hospital in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Ken was born in England on September 29, 1936, the son of Wilford and Martha (Okell) Coles. Ken was a plumber his whole life, working for many years in Scotland and Australia. Upon moving to United States, he married Linda Fritche on January 16, 1996. Then in semi retirement, he still did small plumbing projects for his many family, friends, and church. He also did maintenance for REI in Armada Township and for REI car wash in Romeo. He had many varied hobbies, from being on golf leagues, reading, painting, volunteering at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Washington Township where he assisted with maintenance and ushered on Sundays, and always loved to have a Bud Light and a “wee nip”. Ken is survived by his wife Linda, children: Susan (Allen) Lindsay, Sharon (Alister) Ross, Amy (Mark) Kerr, & Kenneth Coles all of Scotland, step children; Thomas (Angie), Lori (Steve), Larry (Paula) and Mark (Gayle) all in the United States. Ken is survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and siblings: Ruth (Phillip) of England, Linda of Fort Gratiot, MI., and Peter of St Clair, MI. Preceded in death by his sister Beryl. A memorial service for Ken will be had on Friday, October 11 at 11 AM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Washington Township with Pastor Jeffrey Draeger officiating. Visitation will take place from 10 AM till the service starts at 11 AM at the Church. Local arrangements by the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo Michigan. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
