Lawrence J. Godfryd, age 76, a resident of Sterling Heights since 1978, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at the Campbell House in Addison Township, Michigan. Lawrence was born October 3, 1937 in Detroit, the son of Walter and Mary Ann (Schemansky) Godfryd. He graduated from the University of Detroit High School in 1956 and then graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a degree in Economics. After serving his Country proudly in the Marines, Lawrence went to work for Ford Motor Company at its transmission plant in Livonia as a supervisor until his retirement in 1992. Upon retirement, he enjoyed working on his model airplanes and being a World War II history expert. Lawrence is survived by his children: Deacon Kurt (Diana) Godfryd of Oxford, Kory (Jenna) Godfryd of Warren and Kris (James) Hewitt of Howell, MI. Also survived by his 10 grandchildren. Lawrence was preceded in death by his grandson Luke. Mass of Resurrection will take place on Saturday at 1 PM at St Clement Catholic Church of Romeo with visitation at noon, also on Saturday at the Church. Burial will follow at Guardian Angels Cemetery in Oakland Township. Arrangements by the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo Michigan.
