Lorene E. Zimmer

Lorene E. (Renee) Zimmer, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, December 26th, 2023 at Troy Beaumont Hospital. She was a resident at Orchard Grove Health Campus in Romeo, Michigan. Renee was born on August 2nd, 1945 in Pontiac, Michigan, the daughter of Lorne & Ruth (Griffin) Ross.

Renee’s passion was for teaching. Early in her career, she taught 2nd & 3rd grade at Utica Community Schools, followed by being a substitute teacher and adult education instructor. Then, Renee taught 1st grade at Armada Elementary School for 16 years. She was a very dedicated, supportive teacher in the classroom and also attended many students after school activities. She had a love of nature, enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and playing bingo or Rummikub with her friends.

Renee is survived by her children Philip (Kelly) Zimmer of Washington, Michigan, Marcy Zimmer of Shelby Township, Michigan and grandchildren PJ Zimmer and Ty Zimmer, as well as her brothers Ron (Jackie) Ross of Newberry, Michigan and Roger (Carol) Ross of Romeo, Michigan.

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 30th, 2023 from 12:00pm – 4:00pm at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, followed by a 4:00pm service at the same location. In lieu of flowers, donations to Parkinson’s Foundation would be appreciated.
