Lucille M. Salsido

Lucille M. Salsido, age 80, a 45 year resident of Romeo and formerly from Detroit, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2014 at her home after a long illness. Lucille was born May 29, 1934 in Karnes City, Texas, the daughter of Epifanio and Maria(Juarez) Rodriguez. She married John J. Salsido on May 15, 1954 at St. Agatha Catholic Church in Gagetown, Michigan and he preceded her in death on January 7, 2008. Lucille worked for over 27 years at Romeo Rim before retiring in 1995. She was well known in the Mexican Community helping to organize the Hispanic Mass at St. Clement. She earned the prestigious “Juan Diego Award” given by Cardinal Maida for her work in Hispanic Ministries. Lucille was also active with the Women’s Auxiliary of the Striber-McVicar Post # 2052 where she served as its president for 2 years. Lucille, along with her family, were long time members of St. Clement Catholic Church of Romeo. Lucille is survived by her children: John Salsido & Rick(Lori) Salsido both of Romeo, Ramona (Dennis) Hunko of Sterling Heights and Rachel (Chun) Siev of Bad Axe. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and siblings Henrietta Martinez and Edward Rodriguez both of Texas, Mary (Paz) Resendez of Pontiac, MI., and Roy Rodriguez of Lapeer, MI. She was preceded in death by 6 siblings. She is also survived by their special neighbors, Jeff & Sandy Hopp. Funeral services will take place on Thursday at 10 AM at St. Clement Catholic Church of Romeo with burial to follow at the Bruce-Armada Cemetery.
