Lyle E. Hopp

November 14, 1931 — March 18, 2009

Lyle E. Hopp, age 77, a 17 year resident of Almont and formerly from Washington Twp., passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 18, 2009. Lyle was born November 14, 1931 in Washington Twp., the son of George and Ina (Balch) Hopp. He married the former Patricia Jones on April 16, 1955 at St John Lutheran Church of Romeo. Lyle retired from TRW in 1978 in Washington Twp. as a Tool & Die maker. He previously worked at Firestone Manufacturing, & Hamill Manufacturing. Lyle enjoyed being in the community, formerly belonging to the Washington Lions Club, the Goodfellows, coaching girls and boys baseball teams, bowling, & playing softball on the senior leagues. He served his Country proudly in the Navy during the Korean War and joined the Striber-McVicar Post #2052 in Romeo upon his return to the States. Lyle is survived by his wife Pat of Almont, children: Cindy Bennett & Judy Lewis both of Almont and Michael Hopp of Florida and sister Eileen Hopp of Romeo. Grandchildren include Matthew & Emily Bennett, Aaron Hopp, and Brandy Lewis. Also survived by great grandchild Axton Bennett of Almont. He was preceded in death by his son Joel on Nov. 11, 2008 along with siblings Harold, Ellen Otto, Francis & Leon Hopp. Funeral services will take place on Monday at 11 AM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home of Romeo. Burial will follow in the Mt Avon Cemetery in Rochester, Michigan. Visitation will take place on Saturday from 5-9 and on Sunday from 2-9.
