Marilyn J. Butterfield

Marilyn J. Butterfield, 85, of Bruce Township died Thursday, October 7th, 2021. She was born July 17th, 1936 in Detroit, MI. The daughter of Nicholas and Leona Popp. Marilyn graduated from Almont High School as Valedictorian in 1954. She went on to attend Eastern Michigan Normal College in Ypsilanti MI and attained her Teaching Certificate in 1956. She then taught at a one-roomed country school. On December 28th1957, she married Roy Butterfield at the Deerfield Church of Christ. Throughout her life, Marilyn enjoyed growing flowers, herbs, and vegetables. Her yard was always filled with beautiful and colorful flowers. She enjoyed cross pollinating lilies and had made several new beautiful lilies. Marilyn was very creative and had a great passion for designing herbal and floral arrangements. She was known for her lovely holiday wreaths and dried arrangements. Always in great demand at Arts and Crafts Shows. Marilyn went on to earn her Associates Degree from Macomb County Community College, then worked at Tacom in Warren, and then retired from the Macomb County Sheriff’s Department in 2000. She is survived by her son Jeffrey (Elsa) Butterfield, grandchildren Nicole Butterfield, Luis Rosas Hernandez, and Alexa Sanchez Rosas. Sisters Shirley Hegyan, Linda (Calvin) Locklin, and Carol (Ron) Posey. Nieces Kim (John) Bostek, Kathy (Tim) Morris, Julie (Andy) Sherman, Cara Locklin (Cameron Arholt). Nephews Michael (Jessica) Posey and Justin (Amy) Posey. Marilyn was proceeded by her Husband Roy Butterfield in 1992, and her son David Butterfield in 2012. Marilyn will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. Funeral Services will be held at West Berlin United Methodist Church in Allenton MI. Viewing from 10am October Wednesday the 13th until 11am when the service will start. Burial will be at West Berlin Cemetery, Allenton, MI.
