Martin Udell Gallagher, age 64 of Romeo, MI., died on Friday, Dec. 7, 2007 as a result of a heart attack on Mon. Dec. 3, 2007. He was the son of the late Alfred U. and Alma L. (Baker) Gallagher. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Janet Hazelwood Gallagher, two sons and their spouses, Martin Bret and Marchelle Gallagher, Mark Richard and Carol Gallagher and one daughter and her spouse, Erin and Clint Rodger. Martin and Janet enjoyed 11 years of being Grandma and Pap to Martin H., Mallory, and Makenna Gallagher, and Emeline and Brock Rodger. He is also survived by two brothers and sisters and their spouses: Janet and Ronald Follansbee of Rochester, New York; Gordon and Judy Gallagher of Sugar Land, Texas; Adel and Bruce Aiken of New Brighton, Pennsylvania; and Jay and Barbara Gallagher of Newark, Delaware. Martin graduated from New Brighton (PA) High School in 1961 and received a B.S.B.A. degree with a major in accounting from Geneva College, Beaver Falls, PA, in 1967. While working as an accountant with Firestone in Noblesville, Indiana, Martin received his Master of Business Administration from Butler University in 1975. Firestone transferred Martin to Romeo, Michigan, in 1982, where he continued his employment with Firestone and its successor company TRW. He retired in 2001 after 34 years, having served as the Vice President of Finance World Wide for TRW Vehicle Safety Systems. Martin and his family are active members of St John's Lutheran Church in Romeo, where Martin served on the finance committee. Martin was also treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors of the Samaritan House in Romeo. In addition to lifelong love of his family, he was know by all for his love of horses. Martin's funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 10 at 11 AM at St John Lutheran Church of Romeo with Pastor Mark Evans officiating. Burial will follow in the Romeo Cemetery. Martin would be honored knowing his recent efforts to further the building program of the Samaritan House were aided by memorial contributions in his name which may be sent or delivered to Samaritan House at 58944 Van Dyke, Washington, MI 48094.
