Marvin Miller Jr., age 89, a lifelong Romeo area resident, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mt Clemens, Michigan. Marvin was born January 8, 1933 in Detroit, the son of Marvin J. and Catherine (Archer) Miller. After graduating from Romeo High School in 1951, he joined the Navy Reserves where he served in San Diego & Jacksonville, Florida for 2 years during the Korean War. He married Bette Ann Lyons on November 19, 1952 in Indiana. After his Navy service, Marvin went to Port Huron Community College for his Associate Degree and then attended Wayne State where he earned his Bachelors Degree & Master’s Degree, both in education. Marvin then started work at the Rochester High School where he taught English and supervised the debate team for over 30 years. He also helped with the athletic department, working the scoreboard and being its timekeeper for the basketball/football teams for many years, even after retirement. Upon retirement, you could see Marvin and Bette helping out fellow seniors in the Romeo area, loved to read, and taking care of his home. Marvin is survived by his wife of 69 years Bette Ann, son Robert, grandchildren Andrew and Marissa and great grandchildren Georgia Miller and Colin MacMullin. Marvin was preceded in death by brother Robert G. Miller. A Memorial service will be held at a later date. Local arrangements by the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo Michigan.
