Mary E. Powell

Mary E. Powell, age 78, a 60 year resident of Mt Clemens and previously from Almont, passed away at her home on Monday, March 3, 2014. Mary was born May 1, 1935 in Almont, the daughter of Clark and Florence (Muma) Draper. Mary worked as a bookkeeper for 29 years at the old Mt Clemens Bank and then with Huntington Bank when they merged, until her retirement in 1997. Upon retirement, Mary enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great grandchild. She also spent many hours watching television, especially old John Wayne movies & NCIS. Mary is survived by her children: Debra (Bill) Pummer of Mt Clemens, Diann (Mike) Sarafinski of Macomb, MI., Dawn (Michael) Stokes of Harrison Twp., and Duane (Diana) Powell of Allenton, MI. Grandchildren include Matthew Chernenko, Rebecca Parrott, Michael, Christopher, & Kaylie Stokes and Ashley Powell. One great grandchild Hadley Parrott survives. Mary was preceded in death by her brother Albert Draper. Funeral services will take place on Friday at 11 AM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Roy officiating. Burial will take place at West Berlin Cemetery in Allenton, MI. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-8 PM. Donations to the wishes of the family would be appreciated.
