Mary Ellen Summer

Mary Ellen Sumner age 80, a 21 year resident of Chesterfield Michigan passed away peacefully at home on January 1, 2018. Mary was born on March 29, 1937 the daughter of John Crowell and Vera (Mitchell) Crowell. On August 19, 1960 she married James Allen Sumner. Mary liked to shop and spend time with her family. Her true passion was taking care of her cats; rescuing many throughout the years. Mary is survived by her children; Terry Mitchum, Karl, Cheryl Sumner, and Kelly Sumner-Ray, sisters Louann and Betty, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary’s husband James Allen Sumner passed away on September 26, 2006. Mary is also predeceased by her sons Randy Carrier and Johnny Carrier. Services will be held January 8, 2018 from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. at the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church (3000 28 Mile Road, Washington, MI 48094) with burial to follow at 1:30 P.M. at the Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
