Mary Ellen Tabar, age 74, a resident of Washington Township, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2016 at Crittenton Hospial in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Mary Ellen was born November 3, 1942 in Lexington, Michigan the daughter of William Harvey McMillan and Ellen (Heilig) Matthews. She married Peter Tabar on June 11, 1966 at St Dennis Catholic Church in Lexington, Michigan. After gradation from Macomb Community College and the St. Joseph Mercy School of Nursing, Mary Ellen worked at St Joseph Mercy Hospital for many years as a LPN until she retired in 2005. Upon retirement, she enjoyed playing golf, playing bridge, collecting antiques as well as social activities with friends and family. She also was an avid gardener and belonged to the Romeo Garden Club, the Romeo Questers, and St John Vianney Catholic Church in Shelby Township Michigan. Mary Ellen is survived by her husband Peter, children: Matthew of Logan, Ohio and Jennifer of Warren, Michigan. Also survived by her sister Helen Martin of Galveston, Texas, daughter-in-law Lori Tabar, and one granddaughter, Jessica of Pickerington, Ohio. Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her son Michael on September 5, 2016, and siblings; Pauline, Kitty, Hank, and Patrick. Funeral services will take place on Friday at 10 AM at St John Vianney Catholic Church of Shelby Township. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2-8 PM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo Michigan. A luncheon will follow the mass at The Palazzo Grande (54660 Van Dyke Ave. Shelby Township, MI 48316).
