Mary M. Merten, age 79, a resident of Romeo since 1972, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at her home. Mary, the daughter of Clyde and Clara (Reiman) Duhart was born August 27, 1935 in Detroit, She married Keith Merten on October 22, 1960. Mary graduated from the University of Detroit with a Bachelor’s Degree in teaching. She also was the assistant editor of the Kresge News in Detroit. Mary enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and traveling with her husband. She was a longtime member of the Juliet Garden Club in Romeo. Additionally, she served as past president and recording secretary for the Michigan Chapter of the Women’s National Farm & Garden Association. She, along with her husband, Keith, were members of St Clement Catholic Church of Romeo. Mary is survived by her husband Keith, children: Lisa (Donald) Sherman of Oakland Township, Barbara (David) Dubensky of Birmingham, Tom (Rosemarie) Merten of Royal Oak and John Merten of Minneapolis, MN. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and brother James (Margaret) Duhart of Troy MI. She was preceded in death by her brother Richard Duhart. Visitation will take place on Saturday November 29 from 6-8 pm and on Sunday November 30 from 1- 6 pm with a 6:00pm rosary at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo Michigan.
