Matthew Robert Thomas

Matthew Robert Thomas, age 50, of Romeo, Michigan, passed away on September 30, 2020 at Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit.  Matt was born June 3, 1970 in Mount Clemens, Michigan, the son of Bob and Ann (Conway) Thomas.     Matt was a member of the Romeo High School class of 1988. After high school, he moved to Tennessee and worked for many years as a personal trainer and fitness expert. Matt competed as a body builder and became a professional MMA fighter which was his passion. He also spent 3 years taking care of his Grandpa Conway.  He worked tirelessly and lovingly to make his Grandpa comfortable in his final stages of life. Matt enjoyed cars, football, and scuba diving. Always known for his jovial and magnetic nature, he had many friends throughout his life.  Matt was a big guy with a big heart.  He loved his family immensely.     Matt is survived by his parents Bob (Linda) Thomas of Romeo, Michigan, and Ann (Vincent) Ciaramitaro of Tennessee, son Matthew Brett Thomas and grandson Beckham Thomas of Florida, daughter Taylor Skye Thomas of Tennessee, siblings Marc (Adrienne) Thomas of Colorado, Julie (Tim) Schmidt of Oregon, Debbie (Ken) Kusmierz of Romeo, Michigan, Charlie (Courtney) Ciaramitaro of Tennessee, and Michael Ciaramitaro of Tennessee, as well as 12 nieces and nephews.  Matthew is predeceased by his grandparents, William and Rosemary Conway, and Louis and Shirley Thomas.     Funeral services will be private.  Memorial donations can be made in Matt's memory to Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit and/or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
