Maurice "Pork" Thompson

Maurice E. Pork Thompson, age 67, a 40 year resident of the Romeo area, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at his home.  Maurice was born in Cedarville, MI., on July 27, 1940 the son of Ervin and Eileen (Hall) Thompson.  He married Florence Howell in 1962 at St Clement Catholic Church in Romeo.  Maurice was retired since 2003 as a heavy equipment operator for Jacob's Electric Company in Detroit and belonged to IBEW Local # 17 in Detroit for many years. He served his Country in the Navy and belonged to St Clement Catholic Church.  Pork's hobbies included hunting, fishing, going to casinos and just being outdoors as much as possible.      Maurice is survived by his wife Florence of Romeo, children: Kim (Bill) Rogers of Almont, Tammy Lindsey of Richmond, Tracey (Michael) Richards of Macomb, Joe (Brenda) Thompson of Holly, & Paul (Sandy) Thompson of Lapeer.  Also survived by 13 grandchildren & 1 great grandchild.  Siblings surviving include Calvin (Bert) Hall of Pickford, MI., John (Molly) of Hessel, Robert of Cedarville, Merlin (Connie) of Brown City, Kenneth (Elizabeth) of Hamtramck, Dale of Mt Pleasant, Gloria (Wayne) Donway of Kincheloe, Karen Handloveski of New Jersey, Mary (Richard) Zane of Mio, Donna (John) Galorwic of Raber, Pam (Larry) Dancingburg of Almont, Joyce of Mt Pleasant, & Imogene  (Daren) Lavigne of Vanderbilt.  He was preceded in death by his siblings Lois Barnett, Dane Flynn, Eualdine Reynolds, & Terry Lyn Thompson.      Funeral services will take place on Monday at 10 AM at St Clement Catholic Church of  Romeo with Fr (John Ortman) Doc officiating.  Burial will follow in the Romeo Cemetery.
