Maxine M. Phaneuf

Maxine M.Phaneuf, age 94, passed away on Sunday October 24, 2021 at 9:45am surrounded by her loving family. Maxine was born on September 2, 1927 in Detroit, Mi., and has been a Romeo resident since 1968. Maxine is the daughter of Herbert and Mary (Dennison) Monache. Maxine was with her love Gerald for 32years, and married at St. Rita’s Church, Detroit, Michigan, in 1949. Maxine was very active in her church, St. Clemens in Romeo, delivering communion, teaching catechism, and offering her time as a volunteer at nursing homes. She also played a part in her community teaching English to the Spanish speaking migrant farm workers and serving in the Stephens ministry answering phone calls and making home visits to those in need. Maxine enjoyed taking care of her many grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as sewing and cooking for her large family who were frequent visitors at her home. Maxine is survived by her children, Dr. Joseph Phaneuf of Union City, CA, Richard (Judith) of Bruce Twp., Kenneth (Lynn) of Chelsea, and Daughter Mary (Thomas) Ladd of Bruce Twp. Maxine had 8 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren and her brother Ronald (Sharon)Monache . She was predeceased by her husband Gerald in 1981, her sister Arline Monache in 2015, and her brother John Monache in 2017. Funeral Services will be held at St. Clement Church in Romeo Michigan at 11am on October 28, 2021, with visitation from 9-11am. Burial will take place at Bruce-Armada Cemetery.
