Michael J. Halas

Michael J. Halas, age 38, of Washington Michigan passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township. Michael was born May 23, 1975 in San Diego, California the son of James and Sharon Halas. He married Deborah (Dohany) Halas on May 13, 2000 in St Clair Shores, Michigan. Michael graduated from Armada High School in 1993 and then graduated from Ferris State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1997. Michael worked first as a diesel mechanic at Romeo Ford, then at Jerome Duncan Ford in Sterling Heights and at Dean Sellers Ford in Troy. In 2001, Michael started “Halas Performance” in Romeo. He was well known around the country for his high performance diesel engines. He won many awards for his trucks that he engineered and designed. But the love of his life were his four children. Michael is survived by his wife Deborah of Washington Township, children: Alexander Batch, Aaron Batch, Joshua Batch, & Aleesha Halas, and a very dear friend, Brother-in-law Derrick (Lisa) Dohany. Michael also leaves behind his mother Sharon (Mark) Legue, siblings: Jennifer (Eric) Stewart, Ryan (Jessica) Halas, and Sean Halas and his father James Halas. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, July 25 at 11 AM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home of Romeo with Rev. Vince Messina of the Woodside Bible Church of Oakland Township officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2-8 at the Funeral Home.
