Michele M. Okoniewski

Michele Marie Okoniewski, age 64 and resident of Bruce Township since 1995, went home to Heaven on Friday, February 10, 2023 at the Ascension Providence Hospital in Rochester Hills, Michigan.

Michele was born on January 27, 1959 in Detroit, Michigan to Gladys and Etienne (Steve) Masalskis. She graduated from the University of Michigan in 1985 with a degree in dental surgery. She practiced dentistry in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Michigan before retiring in 1996 to raise a family with her husband, Paul.

Michele was pure joy in every sense of the word. She was known for singing her way through life – so much that her husband’s family nicknamed her “the songbird.” She lit up every room with her bright laugh and ready smile. Her faith in God and Jesus Christ was at the forefront of everything that she did, and she taught her four children to know, trust, and walk with the Lord above anything else.

A spirited and classy lady with a zest for life, Michele was always ready for a challenge or an adventure. She loved her family, her country, working creatively with her hands, sailing, and singing harmonies – especially with her choir family at Grace Lutheran Church. She treasured people, and never stopped caring unconditionally for those around her.

Michele will be forever cherished and remembered by her husband, Paul, her four children, Sierra, Logen, Jessie, and Meric, her eight siblings, Frances, Peter, Paul, Matthew, Cathy, James, Sharon, and John, and countless other family members, friends, and loved ones.

Visiting hours will be held from 1 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15, at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 16, at Grace Lutheran Church of Romeo.
