Minnie (Monica) Cherry, age 95, of Almont, MI, and formerly of Hubbard Lake passed away on Saturday, January, 2, 2021 in the home of her daughter. Monica was born March 23, 1925 in Elmira, MI, the daughter of Thomas and Pearl (Kucharek) Jaroneski. She married the late Stanley Cherry on August 30, 1947 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Elmira. They raised their three children in Detroit, MI, later moving to Sterling Heights and upon Stanley’s retirement moved to Hubbard Lake, MI. Monica was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She never said ‘no’ and was selflessly devoted to her family. Monica loved to sew, fish, enjoyed mushroom picking, gardening in her fruit and vegetable gardens and then selling them at her stand while having plenty to can and share with her children. She also grew the most beautiful flowers, roses in particular. Monica’s hobbies are remembered and cherished as they are seen in her children and grandchildren. The way she touched our lives will always remain. Monica leaves behind a brother Donald (Delores) Jaroneski and is survived by daughter-in-law Linda (Clarence) Cherry, children Judy (Ernest) Dowty, and Janet (David) Kopczyk. Grandchildren include David (Jennett) Cherry, Jennifer Cherry, Kelsey Dowty, Michelle Dowty, Laurie Kopczyk, and Sheri (Mark) Gjolaj. Great-grandchildren include Carmella Smith (Laurie) and Ariella and Raeya Gjolaj. She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley Cherry, August 20, 2004 and son Clarence Cherry, October 9, 2018. Funeral services were held January 6, 2021, with burial at Ferguson Cemetery.
