Minnie E. Bacon

Minnie E. Bacon, age 80, a resident of Bruce Township since 1978 and formerly of Troy, MI., passed away at her home on Saturday, June 1, 2019.  Minnie was born in Arizona on July 18, 1938, the daughter of Edward and Maria J. Castillo.  She married Robert  R. Bacon on Feb. 6, 1959 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Minnie was well known in northern Macomb County for her various volunteer work. She volunteered as a counselor at the Birth Right Center in Utica, helped out at the Apgate Center at St Clement Catholic Church where she was one of the person’s responsible for starting the Spanish Mass, taught English/Catechism,  assisted with Baptisms, and provided spiritual support for the Spanish community. In her younger days, she worked as a logistic & shipping specialist for General Motors, a keypunch operator, and an in-home dog grooming business.  Her hobbies included golfing, bowling, and making jewelry.  She dedicated her life to Jesus on June 30, 1992.  From that day forward - she spread the good news of the Lord to everyone she knew and met. Closing each day with a letter to Jesus, praying for specific needs of people she had come in contact with or asking for blessings on whomever was weighing heavy on her mind.    Minnie is survived by her husband Robert, children;  Cherrie (Robert) Tebeau of Oakland Twp., and Robert of Bruce Twp., along with one granddaughter Ava Grace Tebeau.  Also survived by sisters Olga Soda and Rose Banuelos.  Funeral services will take place on Friday, June 7, 2019 at 10 AM at St. Clement Catholic Church of Romeo with burial to follow at Guardian Angel Cemetery in Rochester, Michigan. Visitation will take place on Thursday, June 6, 2019 from 3-8 PM with a 7 PM rosary by the Knights of Columbus, Council # 7018 at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo Michigan.  Donations to St Jude’s would be appreciated.
