Murray John Young

Murray John Young Sr., age 64, a resident of Washington, Michigan passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on April 28, 2021 at home. Murray was born September 2, 1956, son of William and Colleen (Moncrieff) Young. Murray was a dedicated furnace technician where he built and maintained the equipment and facilities for 40+ years. He loved race cars and snagged many trophies with his sons (Murray and Kevin), grandson (Tyler) and beloved friend (Phil) at Lapeer Dragway bringing home the championship three times. His wit and sense of humor kept us entertained. His kindness and generosity were unparalleled; even going as far as paying strangers to perform odd ends and providing them shelter. He was a dedicated husband who loved his wife, grand babies, children, camping, the race track, and bud light. Murray is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Vera (Moore) Young, three children, Kari (Todd) Dawson of Romeo, Murray Jr. (Lisa) of North Carolina, and Kevin (Erica) of Dryden. Murray’s brothers; Mark (Cathy) of Arizona, Matt (Diana) of Lapeer, Mason of Iron Mountain. Grandchildren; Tyler Dawson, Faith Dawson, Karli Dawson, Mallory Dawson, Hailey Dawson, Alyssa Young, Murray III, Savannah Young, Sydney Young. Among his many beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday May 4, 2021 from 2-8pm at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, with a service at 7pm.
