Surrounded by the love of her family, Myrtle Ann Alward, age 80, a lifelong resident of Washington Township, passed on to her eternal home on Wednesday, January, 10, 2018 at her home. She was born on March, 10, 1937 in Romeo. She was the daughter of Thomas and Pearl (Behrendt) Bowerman. After graduating from Romeo High School, Myrtle Ann married Gerald Alward on September 22, 1956 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Washington Township. She worked many years at the Bowerman's Peach Pit Bowling Alley in Washington Township, which her family built in the early 1970's. She also worked at the New Englander in Washington Township. She was a lifelong member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Her hobbies included gardening, baking and spending time with her many family and friends, especially her six grandchildren. Myrtle Ann was a founding member of the Washington Township Fire Fighters Women's Auxiliary and a dispatcher for the fire department for many years. Myrtle Ann is survived by her husband Gerald and children: Brenda Alward, Jerry (Debbie) Alward and Melinda (Robert) Budzyn, all of Washington Township and Luanne (Jeff) Korte of Almont. She is also survived by her six grandchildren. Emily (Chris) Ware, Erin Budzyn, Morgan Alward, Matthew Alward, Jacob Korte, and Hannah Korte. Myrtle Ann is also survived by her sister Gail (Duane) Osbourn of New Baltimore. She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Pearl and her brother Thomas. Funeral Service will be on Tuesday January 16 at 11 AM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church 8600 27 Mile Road, Washington Michigan, 48094. Visitation will be held at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, 11280 32 Mile Road, Romeo, Michigan 48065 on Sunday January 14, from 4 PM to 8 PM and Monday January 15, from 1 PM to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church 8600 27 Mile Road, Washington, Michigan 48094 or directly to the family so they can use the donations for the Washington Township Fire Department.
