MYRTLE ‘’Midge” VIOLET MARTER, 96, was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on February 8, 1926 and died at home in Romeo, Michigan, on Saturday, January 7, 2023. Mrs. Marter previously lived in Chesterfield and Lynn Township before moving to her daughter’s home in Romeo six years ago.
Midge was a devoted wife for 63 years and a dedicated mother from the age of 21. Midge was predeceased by her husband Clarence Marter, her sons Craig and Mark. She is survived and will be missed by her children Lynne Hoover Musilli of Romeo, Denise Marter (Foy) of Northville, Todd (Kimm Jones) of Imlay City and Kurt (Pat) Marter of Memphis.
There were frequent visitors to her sitting room where she enjoyed conversing about U of M Football, the Detroit Lions and shared family stories with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and friends: In particular, Craig Hoover, Henry Hoover, Chad, Allison and Bella Hoover, Sandra Hoover, Bob, Jillian, Peyton and Violet Beckley, Troy Marter, Cole Marter, the Peeters family, Wagner, Rose and Elizabeth Forest.
Midge was an avid reader and library volunteer until macular degeneration stole her vision. She continued to “read” through her condensed books. She loved birds, the news, the weather and news of the weather: daily topics of conversation.
The family celebrated her life in her final hours. She directed the parade as always. The family asks that you remember her in your own way.
Private arrangements were made by the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home.
