Nancy A. Wildeboer of Berwyn, PA passed away under the gracious care of her spouse, Jerry and Main Line Health Hospice on Saturday, March 25, 2023. Nancy was born on August 30th, 1953 in Owosso, MI to Henry and Anne (Mudar) Borg. Both of her parents preceded her in death. Nancy’s parents moved to Romeo in 1957.
Nancy graduated valedictorian from Romeo High School in 1971. Nancy’s graduation speech was based on Ecclesiastes 3:18 “To Everything There is a Season”. “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, …“
She graduated in 1975 with highest honors from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering.
Following her graduation, she moved to Chicago, accepting a job with Atlantic Richfield Research Center. During her employment, she coauthored two patents for improving the oil refining process, reducing toxic emissions. Nancy also completed her MBA at the University of Chicago, graduating with highest honors.
Nancy further advanced her career and accepted a position as Director of Environmental & Safety Policy with Sunoco (Sun Oil Company) in Philadelphia, PA. She was appointed to serve on President Clinton’s Advisory Environmental Safety Board and advised on several major oil spill cleanups and remediation procedures within the United States. During her employment, she completed her M.S. in Environmental Engineering at Penn State University with highest honors.
Nancy worked and completed her Professional Engineering License certification. She retired after operating her private environmental engineering consulting firm.
Nancy was an expert and accomplished fine point stitch cross stitch artist. She completed over 200 framed pieces of artwork, along with quilting, lacemaking, sewing, knitting and crocheting. She was extremely talented creating many works of art.
Nancy loved specialty cuisine - especially French, and attended a class taught by Julia Child.
Nancy had a passion to travel and explore various countries and cultures. Nancy and her friend, Kathy, traveled to many European, Australian and Scandinavian countries.They also traveled within the USA. During their travels, they both loved sampling local foods and learning about their cultures.
In 1993, she married the love of her life, Jerry Wildeboer. They enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and family visits to Romeo. They were active in local MS Support Groups, local Corvette Club car shows and many of the beautiful Amish craft shows close to their home and in Williamsburg, Va.
In 2002, Nancy was diagnosed with MS. Jerry has been at her side, lovingly caring for her during the 21 years of battling this debilitating disease. Jerry made it possible for Nancy to be in her home to pass peacefully with him at her side.
Nancy is survived by her loving spouse, Jerry Wildeboer of Berwyn, PA, her sister, Deborah (John) Obrecht of Bruce Township, MI, Niece Carolyn (Nate) Bielawski of Grand Ledge, MI, Nephew Eric Obrecht (Jasmine Deforest) of Norton Shores, MI and Great Nephew, Henry Bielwaski and Great Niece, Cora Bielawski, special family friend, Karen Riley of Ft. Myers, FL and her lifelong friend, Kathy Totcky of Mesa, AZ.
The family has scheduled a private funeral service. The family is requesting in lieu of flowers to please send donations in Nancy’s memory to Main Line HealthCare Hospice, 250 West Lancaster Ave., Suite 340, Paoli, PA. 19301.
