Nancy J. Johnson

Nancy J. Johnson, age 71, a 16 year resident of Allenton, and formerly from Sterling Heights, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Nancy was born March 25, 1940 in Negaunee, MI., the daughter of Charles and Sigrid (Kurtti) Jurmu. She married Jack Johnson in 1960 in Negaunee, MI., and he preceded her in death in 1975. Nancy then married John N. Johnson in 1980 in Port Huron, MI. Nancy worked as a secretary for many years, her last job as the office manager for a condominium complex in Shelby Twp. She previously worked at “Service Tire” in Detroit and “Richard Lewis Real Estate” in Southfield, MI. Her many hobbies include gardening, loved to cook, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and weaving. Nancy is survived by her husband John of Allenton, children: Darin (Darci) Johnson of Sterling Heights, Kion Johnson of Auburn Hills, Gavin Johnson of Clarkston, Hans (Jill) Johnson of Washington Twp., Pamela Johnson of Richmond, Martin (Suzanne) Johnson of Shelby Twp., Carla (Sean) Lockhart of San Diego, CA., and Rhonda (Andrew) Pellegrino of Macomb Twp. Also survived by 12 grandchildren, and sisters: Irma (Melvin) Besola of Spring Valley, IL., and Ruth Uitto of Florence, SC. Nancy was preceded in death by brother James Jurmu and sister Elaine Carpenter. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, Oct. 15 at noon at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home of Romeo with Pastor Jeffrey Draeger of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Washington Township officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:30 AM till noon, the time of service.
