Newell Francis Bentley Jr.

Newell Francis Bentley Jr., age 74, a 46 year resident of Livonia, MI passed away on January 19, 2014. Newell was born on April 6, 1939 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Newell and Jane (Rose) Bentley. He married Margaret Sweeney on July 13, 1968 at St. Clement Catholic Church in Romeo, Michigan. Newell( Beve, Francis, Bevo) loved playing with his grandkids, cooking, fishing, hunting, woodworking, drinking coffee and “exercising” at the Farmington YMCA. Newell retired from General Motors after 33 years of service. Then, one day later, he started at the Farmington YMCA. He was very active in the community and all of his childrens activities. Newell Jr. is survived by his wife of 45 years Margaret, children: Ann (Robert) Brumar, Barbara (John) Holcomb, Cathleen (Tom) Sweder, and Newell (Marla) Bentley III. Grandchildren include Daniel, Andrew, Margaret, Natalie, Julia, Hannah, Braeden, Jaret, and Maia Newell. Sister Christine Connor of Redford, MI, and beloved extended family also survive. Funeral services will take place on January 22, 2014 at 11:30 at St. Genevieve â€" St. Maurice Parish (29015 Jamison Street Livonia, MI 48154). Burial will be on Thursday January 23, 2014 at 10 AM at West Berlin Cemetery in Allenton, MI. Visitation will be on Tuesday January 21, 2014 from 2-8 at RG & GR Harris Funeral Home Livonia, Michigan (15451 Farmington Rd. Livonia, MI 48154). In lieu of flowers donations to American Diabetes Association or The “Farmington YMCA Senior Programs” would be appreciated. Visitation: Visitation will be on Tuesday January 21, 2014 from 2-8 along with a 7 PM Prayer Service at RG & GR Harris Funeral Home Livonia, Michgian (15451 Farmington Rd. Livonia, MI 48154).
