Norman E. (George) Dellinger, age 81, a resident of Washington Township for 50 years passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at his home. George was born November 12, 1932 in Vincennes, Indiana, the son of Charles Norman and Mary Alice (Pilgrim) Dellinger. Norman married Geraldine Miller on May 12, 1956 at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Detroit and she preceded him in death on April 17, 1998. George retired as a truck driver for REI Enterprises of Romeo and previously worked over 40 years as a Construction Foreman for “Morefield Construction†of Addison Township. He was a lifelong member of Operating Engineers, Local # 324 of Detroit. His hobbies include being outside, watching his Detroit Tigers or any baseball game, and of course, his many kids, grandkids and great grandkids. George proudly served his Country in the Army during the Korean War. Norman is survived by his children: Norman (Ed) Jr., & Michael Schnur both of Romeo, Michelle (Jerry) Proulx of Shelby Twp., Vanessa Dellinger of Leonard & Nanette (Dan) Weitzmen of Washington Twp. Grandchildren include Eric, Amy, Stacey, P.J., Russell, Heather, Joyce, Bud, & Beth and numerous great grandchildren along with his sister Inez Miller of Florida. George was preceded in death by his wife, grandson Jason, and sister Ruth Wilson. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, January 11 at 11 AM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home of Romeo with Deacon Kurt Godfryd officiating. Burial will take place in the Romeo Cemetery. Visitation Thursday from 4-8 and on Friday from 2-8.
